Abstract : The prognosis of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) has greatly improved in recent years, resulting in an increased number of patients reporting musculoskeletal complications such as osteonecrosis of the femoral head. Total hip arthroplasty (THA) can be utilised to alleviate the pain associated with this; however postoperative outcomes in patients with SLE are uncertain. This article was a case report of 48 year old woman and a SLE patient who underwent a THA on the left hip. After the surgery, patient underwent immobilization with non weight-bearing and extension of the knee for three weeks. After six weeks, patient started physiotherapy to improve range of motion with passive and active movement. Patient evaluation revealed no pain and progressive recovery of muscular strength after four months and could be able to walk with walker. Total hip arthroplasty using contemporary techniques and current management protocols can provide reliable functional improvement in patients with osteonecrosis secondary to SLE.

Abstract : Lipofibroma of the hand is a rare case. These benign tumor consist of adipose soft tissue and fibromatous tissue. Some synonims of this tumor are intraneural lipofibroma, proliferation of fibrolipoma and lipofibroma hamartoma. This tumor often affects the age of the third decade with a mean age of 22.3 years in certain cases and 22.0 years in macrodactyle cases. In this case report, the author tries to discuss the case obtained about 64 years old female with lipofribroma of the phalang distal and medial of second fingers. Both diagnostic and management that have been carried out and evaluation of the results achieved.

Abstract : Osteoporosis is a major growing public health problem with impact that crosses medical, social, and economic lines. Bone mineral density (BMD) is a standard measure for the diagnosis of osteoporosis and assessment of fracture risk. To assess the influence of some reproductive factors (menarche age, menopause age, number of pregnancies, number of miscarriages, spacing, breastfeeding duration and reproductive years) on the lumbar vertebral Bone mineral density (BMD). In a total of 100 postmenopausal women were studied using cross sectional study, some socio-demographic and reproductive factors (menarche age, menopause age, number of pregnancies, number of miscarriages, spacing, breastfeeding duration and reproductive years) were recorded and measuring the Bone mineral density (BMD) was done by dual X- ray absorptiometry (DEXA) machine at the level of lumbar spine. The correlation of reproductive factors on the lumbar BMD were assessed using spearman and Pearson correlations independent samples T-test and one-way ANOVA. The results showed that the lumbar vertebral BMD has a significant negative association with the age and the years since menopause and positive association with number of miscarriages also there were significant differences in the lumbar vertebral BMD between the groups that have been categorized according to the menarche age, menopause age and the reproductive years. Other reproductive factors like spacing between pregnancies, the age at first pregnancy, the number of pregnancies and the breastfeeding duration were not found to be significantly associated with the lumbar BMD. Regarding the reproductive factors, only the years since menopause and number of miscarriages were found to be associated with the lumbar vertebral bone mineral density (BMD).

Abstract : The study was conducted to evaluate the prevalence of growth hormone deficiency in children with isolated short stature. An observational study comprised (110) short children aged (3-15) year with current height > 2SD below the mean of comparable age and gender, who do not have any symptoms related to diseases that affect growth or specific dysmorphic features of genetic syndromes. Evaluation of children included detailed personal and family history, physical examination, growth analysis, radiological (bone age), laboratory tests, and growth hormone (GH) stimulation test. GH concentration of less than 10 ng/ml has been used to support the diagnosis. A low level of GH was found in (59) children, accounted for (53.6%). Males outnumbered females (39, 20) respectively with male to female ratio 1.95:1. The study showed late referral of children, 34% had first referral after the age of 10. Bone age was shown delayed for chronologic age in 66%. Celiac disease and hypothyroidism did not account for a considerable percentage of short stature in the current study (1.8, 0.9) respectively. Growth hormone deficiency is not uncommon in children with short stature. There is delay of referral of short-statured children for the diagnosis and treatment, awareness of growth monitoring helps improves referrals. Early initiation of therapy with GH may aid in achieving final adult height and lower the psychologic impacts. Further researches are recommended to detect IGF-1 and to study the consequences of GHD and the safety of the therapy.
