“ASSESSMENT OF THE ROLE OF NASAL SEPTAL CARTILAGE MORPHOLOGY AND DEVIATION AS A FACTOR AFFECTING MAXILLARY GROWTH IN UNILATERAL CLEFT LIP AND PALATE IN COMPARISON WITH NON CLEFT CASES USING CBCT - AN OBSERVATIONAL INVIVO STUDY”.
Abstract
: Variation due to the nasal-septal cartilage morphology and deviation have been associated with the maxillary growth. The evident difference in growth of the maxilla in cases with deviated nasal-septal cartilage and altered morphology in uni-lateral syndromic cleft-palate along with the lip cases when compared to the non- syndromic cleft cases. Such variation in nasal-septal cartilage morphology and deviation in uni-lateral syndromic cleft-lip and syndromic palate cases had not been reported earlier and can useful to differentiate, the corelation of the septal cartilage of nose which was deviation and altered morphology in syndromic uni-lateral cleft cases with the non- syndromic cleft cases. It helps the orthodontics to intercept and to correct the nasal-septal cartilage morphology and deviation at the appropriate age to prevent the maxillary growth to be. The relation between the nasal cartilage and the maxillary growth in cleft and non-cleft cases can be very useful in leading to the proper development and growth of maxilla without any distortion.
