ASSOCIATION OF SMARTPHONE ADDICTION WITH SATISFACTION OF LIFE AMONG STUDENTS OF MEDICAL COLLEGES IN LAHORE
Abstract
: Smartphones nowadays, are becoming an essential and inherent component of many lives at almost every corner of the world. The excessive usage of smartphone also causes a lot of addictions physically and behaviorally. These addictions are hard to control especially in students. Problematic use of smartphone causes problems such as use in social psychological and cognitive areas of adolescents. Explore the association between the addiction of smartphone and satisfaction of life. An associational cross sectional study was conducted on 138 medical students of Lahore, in which 59 were male and 79 were female. Smartphone addiction scale (short version) and satisfaction with life scale were used. Data was analyzed by using SPSS version 21. Correlation coefficient was used to find out the linear relationship between the two variables i.e., smartphone addiction and life satisfaction. Results of this study showed that out of „138‟ participants, 90 (65.2%) were at low risk while 48(35%) were at high risk for smartphone addiction. 33% were slightly satisfied with their life. This study concluded that there is no significant association between smartphone addiction and life satisfaction.
