Title
:
Role of diffusion tensor imaging as an adjunct tool in imaging of Intracranial masses
Abstract
: In this prospective study, we assessed the fractional anisotropy (FA) and mean diffusivity (MD) values in the thirty-three intracranial masses were obtained. The FA value in the lesion was reduced in lesion and the perilesional area of the tumor compared to that of the normal appearing white matter (NAWM) for all the tumors except epidermoid cyst. However the FA value in the lesion was found to be lower than the FA value in the perilesional area. The MD value in the lesion and the perilesional are was found to be higher than that in the NAWM. However the MD value in lesion was found to be slightly higher than that in the perilesional area.Diffusion Tensor Imaging (DTI)can be used in conjunction with conventional MRI in the diagnosis of intracranial masses.
