Title
:
Role of Noninvasive Serum biomarkers for the Diagnosis of Liver Fibrosis/Cirrhosis
Abstract
: The present study aimed to investigate the diagnostic values of noninvasive markers of liver cirrhosis: the concentrations of the enzymes aspartate transaminase (AST), Alanine Aminotransferase (ALT), total bilirubin, direct bilirubin, indirect bilirubin, gamma-glutamyl transferase, Uric Acid, Total Antioxidant Capacity, Total Oxidant Status and Platelet count with hepatic functional markers indices in patients with cirrhosis of liver in varying etiology. Blood samples of patients suffering from severe liver disease 26 were included. The diagnosis was based on a luminescent immune analyzer and biochemical assays using an automatic biochemical analyzer, to analyze the correlation between the hepatic function and fibrosis markers varying etiology in both the cases and controls. The serum levels of biochemical parameters and liver function tests were significantly higher compare to control (P<0.021): the serum levels of oxidative markers were shown significantly lower compared to healthy controls (P<0.020). The analysis between the liver function and three oxidative stress biomarkers of liver disease positively correlated with AST (P<0.004) and gamma-GT (P<0.001), statistically significant oxidative biomarkers, and diagnostic parameters. The concentration of serological parameters indices changed significantly based on the specific liver cirrhosis etiology, diagnostic parametric tests are positively correlations with hepatic disease. Thus, the detection of these biomarkers might improve the prognosis and diagnosis of liver cirrhosis.
