STRESS AMONG BACHELOR PHYSICAL THERAPY STUDENTS IN LAHORE DURING CLINICAL PRACTICE AND ITS ASSOCIATION WITH ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENTS
Abstract
: There are many levels of stress and stressors present in student’s life. irrespectively their class standards, assessments, scores, and age. One of the clinical rotations has an accidentally bad impact on the learner’s bodily and psychological fitness. Due to this, the students have a bad impact on their academic achievements as well as fitness. To determine stress among bachelor physical therapy students in Lahore during clinical rotation and its association with academic achievements. It was a cross-sectional study. 3rd, 4th, and 5th year DPT students both male and female from ANMC, UOL, MARS, and USA university participated. Scale for assessing academic stress (SAAS) and perceived stress scale 10 (PSS10) was used. CGPA was used for the assessment of academic achievements. Questionnaires were given to participants in the form of handouts. The Chi-square test was applied for the association between perceived stress and academic achievements. Total 227 DPT students participated in the present study. Moderate perceived stress was present in 64.8% of students and academic stress was present in 57.7% of participants. There was no significant association between perceived stress and academic achievement among bachelor physical therapy students as the p-value was not significant. There was no stress has been observed among bachelor physical therapy students during clinical rotation and there was no significant association between perceived stress and academic achievement but in female students after stratification association present. Instructors should manage the psychological problems of students for a better lifestyle.
