Title
:
Treatment of Vancomycin-Resistant Gram-Positive Bacterial Infections
Abstract
: Vancomycin is effective in the treatment of infections caused by the vast majority of Gram- positive organisms. What's more worrisome is the rise in vancomycin resistance in clinical isolates of enterococci and staphylococci. There aren't many treatment options right now, so it's critical that we work to prevent their emergence and halt their spread by adhering to infection control procedures. In this study, we look at antibacterial alternatives to vancomycin for gram- positive bacteria that are resistant to it.
