Abstract : Chemotherapy, the most commonly used systemic treatment for cancer suppression, invariably destroys healthy cells, resulting in side effects, stressing the need for anticancer drug carriers that preserve or enhance chemotherapy effects while minimising the intensity of adverse reactions. Nanoparticles, which may be modified to have a variety of biological features and employed in a variety of contexts, offer a safer and more effective way to deliver chemotherapy. We have discussed uses of polymer nanoparticles, dendritic polymers, micelles, liposomes and other nanoparticles that are being investigated as drug carriers. We have briefed various endogenous and exogenous stimuli that can be used to release the packed drug from the nanoparticle at specified targeted sites. Combination drug delivery systems composed of various nanoparticles aimed at delivering two or more drugs simultaneously that can give synergistic antitumor effects and decrease individual drug toxicity are also discussed. Applications of nanoparticles in certain specific cancers and nanoparticles designed for intracellular drug delivery are discussed as well..

Abstract : The novel Coronavirus belongs to the RNA group of viruses, which was first seen in poultry in 1930s, that infects mammals and birds. Covid strains can cause upper respiratory tract infections and scientists all around the globe have worked day and night to provide a vaccine that acts well and efficiently against Covid-19. The Covid 19 outbreak was so fast and spread to such an extent all over the world that it was declared a global pandemic. Various scientists and physicians have collaborated and developed vaccines to put a stop to the spread of this virus. This review explains about the various kinds of vaccines that have been developed by different countries around the globe, their characteristics, effectiveness, as well as a description of the current manufacturing scales and distribution process throughout the world. The information addressed in this study will help to provide valuable knowledge to members of the dental community as well as researchers. It will also help provide a broad overview on the current vaccines being administered and their efficacy..

Abstract : Becker nevus (BN), an acquired disorder frequently occuring during adolescence in boys, is characterized by unilateral patchy hyperpigmentation with hypertrichosis. It has sharply defined, irregular borders and is arranged in a checkerboard or geographical pattern. There is a significant (6:1) male predominance and its lesions are commonly localized to the upper extremities and trunk. BN of the face is extremely rare with only twenty cases being reported till now..

Abstract : In the words of T.S. Eliot,” Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go”. While fixed orthodontics is still the treatment of choice there are problems in relation to esthetics as well as in maintaining oral hygiene. Clear aligners have been designed keeping appearance and comfort in mind and at the same time can achieve esthetic results which are comparable to what we can achieve with fixed orthodontics. This case report depicts the use of aligners for treating a patient with Class I malocclusion. The patient had an orthognathic facial profile and visited the clinic mainly for esthetic concerns and wanted to correct her lower anterior crowding. Instead of fixed orthodontics the patient was asked to wear aligners and correct minor crowding present and then go in for veneers to minimize tooth reduction for the same. The patient was also looking to improve her soft tissue profile so initial estimation of her frontal soft tissue using the Modified Fitzpatrick Wrinkle Scale (MFWS) showed a score of 2.5. A total of 25 aligners were used for treating the patient and on completion her MFWS rating improved to 0.5 which was seen as a significant improvement on her earlier score of 2.5. There were also corresponding improvements in her soft tissue cephalometric values such as her Naso-labial angle and lip to E-plane values. Published literature has shown a strong correlation between various dental, skeletal changes and the soft tissue profile. Analysis of the case was done using the Modified Fitzpatrick Wrinkle Scale (MFWS) before and after the treatment to find out the improvement in soft tissue profile. Studies have shown the Modified Fitzpatrick Wrinkle scale to be a reliable clinically validated method to analyze the changes in skin folds before and after dermatological treatment..
