Abstract : This study was conducted to identify the factors contributing to increasing caesarean section rates. This study was conducted at Maharajah’s Institute of Medical Sciences, Vizianagaram, Andhra Pradesh, India, between January 2021 to December 2021.This was a prospective observational study. All antenatal cases delivered by caesarean section were considered for the study. All were screened for inclusion criteria and those who were eligible for the study were explained about the study and asked for the voluntary consent. Those who had given written consent were included in the study. Out of 200 cases, 39% of them were not willing to undergo Vaginal Birth After C-Section(VBAC), 22% had fetal distress, 13% had Previous LSCS. 47% of the cases had repeat c-section. 78% underwent Emergency C-Section and 22% of the cases underwent elective c-section. Factors include maternal literacy, higher-than-average BMI, and multiparity were associated to an increase in caesarean section rates. Pregnancy induced hypertension was a more typically associated comorbidity with caesarean section. The majority of patients who had caesarean section had cephalic presentation. Primary and emergency c-sections were more prevalent than repeat and elective c-sections. Foetal distress was the most common reason for a first caesarean procedure, whereas not willing for VBAC was the most common reason for a repeat caesarean surgery..

Abstract : Vasaprevia is a condition where vessels passing from the fetus to the placenta that is not protected by placental tissue or the channel, pass as regards to the cervix. These blood vessels are very delicate and may get torn during labour. Significant perinatal mortality and morbidity are associated with this obstetric condition. Placental abnormalities, like velamentous cord insertion, can occur with vasaprevia. Vessels from the umbilical cord instead of directly into the placenta go through a part of the chorionic membrane in velamentous cord insertion. Therefore more chances of fetal haemorrhage are observed during the rupture of fetal membranes as the blood vessels are not protected by Wharton's jelly around the cord. About 1/2500 to 1/5000 deliveries exhibit a prevalence of vasaprevia. If vasa previa is not diagnosed before birth may result in a fetal mortality rate nearly approaching 60%. Presenting a case of vasa previa diagnosed on placental examination after cesarean section indicated for antepartum haemorrhage. A 23-year-old, G2P1L1, 32weeks 4days, previous LSCS with DCDA twins who had antepartum haemorrhage (APH), underwent emergency LSCS at our institution and was subsequently diagnosed to posses vasa previa on placental examination. Two healthy babies were successfully delivered. This is a report on our management of a case of Antepartum haemorrhage because of vasaprevia..

Abstract : To understand the pulmonary effects of post COVID19 this prospective observational study was undertaken.105 post COVID19 patients were assessed at 3, 6, 9 and 12 months by Clinical symptoms, Pulmonary function by Spirometry and DLCO, Exercise capacity by 6MWT and SPO2, radiologically by Chest X-ray and CT (if required), Health related quality of life (HRQOL). Patients were categorized as mild (71%), moderate (23%) and severe (6%). The predominant symptom at 3 months were fatigue (35.2%), cough (23.8%) and breathlessness (19%). The mean values of all parameters at 3, 6, 9 and 12 months were calculated. All parameters except 6MWT showed statistically significant improvement. In severe category the improvement was slow especially DLCO with residual clinical symptoms..

Abstract : This study aims to evaluate the impact of smartphone addiction on stress levels and satisfaction with life among AIMST Dental students and by this study, we want to create awareness among the dental students on the implications of smartphone addiction. This study was conducted at the Faculty of Dentistry, AIMST University, Kedah, targeted 250 dental students with a sample size of 200. An online questionnaire consisting of Addiction Scale-Short version (SAS-SV), followed by Perceived Stress Scale (PSS) (Cohen, Kamarck, & Mermelstein, 1983) and Satisfaction with Life Scale (SwLS) (Diener, Emmons, Larsen, & Griffin, 1985) was distributed amongst the Year 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 students. The data was analyzed by using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS). Results of this study showed the existence of a positive relationship between smartphone addiction and stress, a negative relationship between perceived level of stress and satisfaction with life and there was zero order correlation between smartphone addiction and satisfaction with life..

Abstract : This study aimed to examine the prevalence of daytime sleepiness among AIMST medical students and to explore its relationship with academic performance. A total of 150 consenting AIMST medical students aged 18 and above participated in this cross-sectional survey done in AIMST University, Sungai Petani, Kedah, Malaysia. All subjects answered a generalized questionnaire that was piloted and included information on demographics, Grade Point Average (GPA) and Epworth-sleepiness scale (ESS). Excessive daytime sleepiness was observed in 32.7% of the subjects. Only 7 (4.7%) of the subjects had less than 4 hours of sleep while majority (45.3%) fell within 4-6 hours. Comparison between subjects with normal sleep versus those with excessive daytime sleepiness revealed significant differences, including Grade Point Average (GPA) scores..
