Abstract : Hand hygiene is the most effective recommended practice to prevent hospital-associated infections. Although, hand hygiene compliance rate is still low. The general purpose of this study was to describe Jordanian nurses' knowledge, attitudes, and barriers toward hand hygiene. A non-experimental descriptive cross-sectional design was used for this study. Validated self-reported questionnaires were used among 207 nurses (106 male and 101females) from four major hospitals in Jordan. Nurses have a moderate level of knowledge (13.83±2.64) and moderate positive attitudes (32.74±4.54). Furthermore, nurses who were working in private hospitals had higher levels of knowledge than nurses who work in teaching hospitals who had higher levels of knowledge than nurses working in governmental hospitals. Nurses who were working in private hospitals had higher levels of attitude than nurses working in teaching and governmental hospitals. Surgical nurses had higher levels of an attitude than ICU nurses and higher levels than medical nurses. On the other hand, ER nurses had shown the lowest attitude. In addition, the result showed that the most important barriers toward hand hygiene were: 1) insufficient time, 2) skin irritation, 3) wearing gloves, 4) lack of knowledge, and 5) ignorance of guidelines. In conclusion, there is a need for continuous education about hand hygiene in order to improve hand hygiene knowledge and to enhance the change in attitude. This study revealed that some of the major barriers were workload, skin irritation and wearing gloves. Management should reduce workload and provide appropriate hand hygiene products.

Abstract : The posteromedial fragment in bicondylar tibial plateau fractures. it's often significant displacement, seems to be under-recognized or recognized and undertreated. The posteromedial approach provides access to the posteromedial and posterior aspects of the proximal tibia, Tibial plateau fractures with a posteromedial fragment (Schz IV, V, and VI) can be effectively managed by the posteromedial approach. Between May 2017 and February 2019, 40 patients with a mean age of 41 years (Range from 21-64 years) with tibial plateau fractures. Patients were diagnosed clinically, checked with standard X-rays; CT was done for all cases. Patients were treated by ORIF through a posteromedial approach with or without additional screws or plate, a screw from a lateral side. Radiological evaluation and functional assessment were done according to the Rasmussen Knee score. Patients were followed-up for an average of 12 months. Union was achieved in all patients with the total Functional Rasmussen Knee score at last follow-up was (Excellent 77.5. %, good 22.5%). The Total Anatomical Rasmussen Knee score at last follow-up was (Excellent 55%, Good 37.5%, Fair 7.5%). Mean Functional Rasmussen Knee score of patients had (Schatzker IV fractures) was Excellent 100%, however, it was Excellent 66.6%, Good 33,3% in those had (Schatzker V fractures) and was Excellent 33,3%, good 66.6 in those had (Schatzker VI fractures). Surgical treatment of tibial plateau fractures through a posteromedial approach that was evaluated in our study can lead to a good functional and anatomical outcome and considered an effective safe approach.

Abstract : Area of nursing sciences is rapidly growing and updating. This necessity the need to graduate nurse who have the talent of self-directed learning and to incorporate this talent with her learning style. For any professional nurse, continues self-development through self-directed learning is the milestone of her excellence. Consequently, this will be reflected on the quality of nursing care. To investigate the relationship between learning style and readiness for self-directed learning among nursing students at Najran University. Descriptive correlational research design. Nursing colleges at Najran University. Comprehensive sample of all nursing students registered on the nursing program during the second semester 2019. Three tools were used for data collection: Sociodemographic and academic history questionnaire, a modified version of C.I.T.E instrument to asses learning styles and Self-Directed Learning Readiness Scale for Nursing Education. Auditory-Visual-Kinesthetic and social individual were major learning style among 87.3% and 84.8% of the nursing student, respectively. Furthermore, 79.2% of them have high readiness for self-directed learning. The mean score for self-control (40.7919± 5.81977) is higher than self-management (39.1371± 6.04123) and desire for learning (40.7919± 5.81977) was the least once. A statistically significant relations between different learning styles and RSDL total score and its constructs was observed. Largest proportion of nursing students at Najran University have high readiness for self-directed learning which is related to the common learning styles among them.
