Abstract : Mangosteen (Garcinia mangostana L.) has antioxidant, antibacterial, antitumor, anticancer, and antiproliferative functions. Previously, an acute toxicity test of the ethanolic extract of mangosteen rind had been carried out, so further testing was needed, namely the subchronic toxicity test, to determine the toxic effects that were not detected in previous studies. This study aims to assess the degree of toxicity of changes in liver function considered from the levels of SGPT and SGOT. This research is an experimental study using the Posttest Only Control Group Design method using 40 individuals. Rats were divided into the control group and treatment group. The treatment group was divided into three groups: a dose group of 250 mg/kg BW, 500 mg/kg BW, and 1000 mg/kg BW. The control group was only given drinking water and feed. Dosing is provided for 28 days. Observations were made for 28 days, and on the 29th day, blood was taken to check the SGPT and SGOT. The results showed an increase in SGPT levels in male rats at a dose of 250 mg/kg BW and SGOT levels in female rats at 250 mg/kg BW but did not cause subchronic toxicity effects on the liver damage. There was no significant difference between male and female SGPT levels using the Kruskal Wallis test (p = 0.240 and p = 0.152). The SGOT level of male rats using the Kruskal Wallis test was found to be p = 0.061, and the SGOT level of female rats using the One Way ANOVA test was obtained p = 0.101..

Abstract : Autoimmune thyroid illnesses such as Grave's, Hashimoto's, atrophic autoimmune thyroiditis, postpartum thyroiditis, and others can be induced by thyroid antibodies. In some circumstances, cytological diagnosis can be challenging. Cytology and serological testing aid in accurate diagnosis in these circumstances. Since anti-TPO antibody levels are important in identifying autoimmune thyroiditis, this study was conducted to examine their relationship to thyroid hormone levels and their significance. When looking at the risk ratio of PTC in HT patients, most FNAC studies used multivariate statistical analysis to explore the relationship between elevated TSH levels and cancer, but this was not always linked to HT. Contrarily, a number of studies have shown an association between ATA and PTC that is especially strong when using TgAb. An independent risk for thyroid cancer was observed to be associated with both TPOAb and TgAb, indicating the involvement of elevated thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) levels, and a substantial connection between PTC and ATA and diffuse LTI at histology was found..

Abstract : Breast neoplasms show varied histopathologic presentations that pose diagnostic challenge to the reporting oncopathologists. Eight of such cases have been discussed here. A case of 56 years old women showed high grade pleomorphic features on cytology. Biopsy was negative for ER, PR, HER2, melanocytic markers, CD45, cytokeratin, CD99 & CD34. It was positive for Vimentin. A diagnosis of Undifferentiated Pleomorphic Sarcoma of breast was delivered. A very rare diagnosis of Myxoid Liposarcoma of breast was made in a 66 years old female. Invasive Breast Carcinoma-No Special Type with Medullary pattern was seen in a 60 years old female. A 55 years old lady with breast tumor showed invasive growth pattern with >90% papillary architecture. Histopathological diagnosis was that of Invasive Papillary Carcinoma of breast. A fairly rare case of Metaplastic breast carcinoma was seen in a 65 years old female. The other three rare cases were bilateral Pleomorphic Ductal Carcinoma in a 45 years old female, Invasive Breast Carcinoma with Neuroendocrine differentiation in a 50 years old lady and Secondary (Diffuse Large B Cell Lymphoma) DLBCL in Breast in a 60 years old lady. Vivid histopathological examination along with judicious use of immunohistochemical and radiological observations helped in arriving at definitive diagnosis of these unusual breast lesions..

Abstract : Traumatic abdominal wall hernia, a rare entity that occurs as a result of blunt abdominal trauma. Most cases are in children, which occurs due to bicycle handlebar injuries. While in adults, the presentation varies, making the diagnosis quite difficult. In this study, we present four cases with varying presentations and management. A 36-year-old female was presented with a motorcycle handle trauma in left lower abdomen. She had a bruising over the skin in left iliac fossa with tenderness. contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CECT) of abdomen showed an 8/4-cm defect in the aponeurotic part of the external oblique muscle, with protrusion of omentum and jejunum. She underwent mesh repair for the defect and recovered well. A 48-year-old, milkman male presented with history of motorcycle handle trauma in left lower abdomen. He had a central abdominal parietal wall swelling and bruising. CECT abdomen revealed a 6/4-cm defect in the anterior abdominal wall muscles with protrusion of sigmoid colon loop. After an onlay prolene mesh repair for the defect closure, he was discharged. A 65-year-old female presented with lower abdominal pain, distention, and vomiting following bull horn injury. He had distended abdomen and tenderness in right iliac fossa. CECT abdomen showed a 2/3 cm defect in the aponeurotic part of the external oblique muscle, with protrusion of ileal loop. After a primary repair of an abdominal wall defect and an exploratory laparotomy, he was discharged. A 16-year-old, schoolboy presented with history of bicycle handle injury in right lower abdomen. Abdominal examination showed tenderness in right lumbar region. CECT abdomen showed a 2/2-cm defect in the anterior abdominal wall muscles with protrusion of omentum. After an exploratory laparotomy, he was discharged. Traumatic abdominal wall hernia presents a diagnostic as well as a therapeutic challenge. CECT is the reliable aid in the diagnoses before the operative repair is quite safe and efficacious. Management of each case is governed by a variety of factors, emphasizing the importance of a patient-specific, case-by-case management strategy..

Abstract : This observation was done to observe the prevalence of Acid-Fast Bacilli (AFB) in District Kohat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. Cross sectional retrospective study was conducted. This examination was done in District Health Quarter Hospital Kohat. Information was gathered by age, sexual orientation and sputum smear result. The investigation time frame was from August 2017 to December 2017. One Hundred and Sixty six (166) patients were remembered for this examination. Among these 166 patients, 72 patients (43.37%) were females in which 39 (54.16%) containing disease and 94 patients (56.62%) were males in which 38 (40.42%) were AFB positive. High prevalence was recorded in female 54.16 % (39/72) than male 40.42% (38/94). High prevalence 63.15% (24/38) was observed in age varies from 5-20 year. In age 21-40 years 41.66% (25/60) were found positive while lowest 36.76% (25/68) was observed in age 41 years and above age. Sputum AFB has much enough in people of low financial group, in ladies and in grown-ups age. The patients put their kids and relatives in danger of TB disease. For the control of this illness early consideration and their treatment under administration is noteworthy..
